Would You Buy A 13 Year Old A Netbook Before An Actual Laptop?

Laptop is a mid way point between a low spec Netbook and a High spec Desktop.
Then she has a computer that should do most tasks (except very demanding games). Plus using a netbook for long amounts of time is more of a strain on the body. (smaller screen, keyboard, mouse, etc.).
Laptop are best for children. young children should use computers with little or no internet access. Give then a good chance to become mini experts before they are old enough to go on-line.
Cody answer is wrong, computer skills are very importaint, 13 is late in life to have a computer now days.
I remember when I was nine-ten, spending hours writing computer code for programs. Its a shame very few children know the basics when it comes to code, programing anymore, too many distractions with social networking sites.
Actually, a netbook is best. Not because she is a kid but because netbooks are “actual” notebooks. Netbooks are great for most uses, especially for education.
Netbooks are low-priced. This is a big plus to consider. If it’s lost, stolen or damaged the loss is more tolerable compared to losing a full-sized laptop.
Netbooks are lightweight, super-portable and totally cool. Her friends will be envious.
A couple drawbacks would be no CD drive, and less ability for gaming.

Netbook will be perfect, if she is not going to play games like Sims on it, just get a stylish one. I wouldn’t buy an expensive laptop for 13 year old, because she can damage it and money will be wasted.

i agree a 13 yr old should not even own a computer actually and a laptop no way. . that too high tech for a 13 yr old.
