okay…..but I got a problem and hopefully you have a solution. Im trying to convince Olivia that knowing how to play a musical instrument is and will be a very useful and important thing in life, Im also trying to convince her to learn how to play the guitar she has,I even told her that I’ll teach her some things cause I can play one.
You got a solution?

Learning music, and music appreciation is one of the most important aspects of growth and development.
Just read “This is your brain on music” by Daniel J Levitin (see sources) to get an idea of how much we now understand of music’s role in the cognitive sciences.

However, I don’t think it’s as important as forcing the child to play an instrument, even just getting her to listen to music and spend time by going to see live performances and growing her knowledge of music will be a great help.
Sadly, I don’t have an answer for you. A kid either WANTS to learn an instrument or they don’t. If they don’t have the personal discipline, drive and dedication to learn an instrument, they won’t be any good at it and get frustrated. If she wants to learn an instrument, then be supportive and if she doesn’t… than give it up as a lost cause.
Never try to teach a pig to sing
It will only frustrate you and it aggrevates the pig
If she doesn’t have much interest, about the only thing you can do is have her learn favorite songs on guitar, or perhaps songs by her favorite recording artists…etc.
Do not try to teach guitar by focusing on unpopular music.
Do not stress exercises and fingering and scales just yet….allow her to play simple 2-3 chord songs by her musical idols.
It has to be fun. You can also spark interest by giving her some way to record herself playing and singing.
Best of luck.
A buddhist monk once told me that he considers playing the guitar a form of meditation. Meditation contributes to overall mental well-being.
But aside from that, you get to rock out. You can impress people with your skills. You can eventually learn to write your own songs and have a creative outlet for yourself.
I got my son to play the guitar. He’s 9. Here’s what I did:
1. I bought myself a guitar.
2. I started taking lessons.
3. I practice every day - learning songs that kids like.
4. He begged me to buy him a guitar and get him lessons too. So I did.
I never told him he should play the guitar.
