What Is The Single Best Netbook Available Right Now?

November 8th, 2009 by admin | Filed under technie stuff.

I want to get one for my brother for xmas but he doesn’t want a bulky laptop so I figured ill get him a netbook. As far as I know he uses it for school, web browsing, and downloading here and there. But I would like to get him something very powerful and not a crap machine that will brake down on him.

To be honest, all of the netbooks are equally crappy.
Same Processors, Ram, Size, PSU, etc…
The only real differences you are going to find is a 16gb SSD (steady state hard drives) or larger 160gb 5400rpm hard drives.
The SSD’s are nice and make the computer much faster, but with a huge price tag of less space…
Any netbook you get will have equal chance of “breaking down”… You just need to decide if you want him to have a faster machine with a small hard drive, or a slower machine with a bigger hard drive.
*I would go with the SSD and then he can just use an external hard drive for any additional space.

There’s really no “best” netbook, as all models will have their respective pro’s and con’s. Important things for you to consider are how important battery life is to you, how big of a screen do you want, and what type of operating system you plan to use.
If you really want long battery life, I would recommend getting a smaller sized laptop or a netbook. I’m not sure how big of a screen you are looking for, but the Acer Aspire One has great battery life and also a 10.1″ display.
It has enough power to do all of the “light” things that you would typically need for school work. It has the necessities of built in Wi-Fi, built in webcam, Windows XP instead of Vista and so on. It also has a pretty affordable price.
