Well i’ll give you most likely the only straight answer you’ll get here.
Netbooks are small and cheapish laptops. They are generally under 10 inches and have less processing power than a laptop. On the other hand they get much better battery life. So for the average internet user who wants to check their email, write a couple things online, check the news. A netbook is fantastic. I get six hours of battery life on mine.
Laptops are larger, generally starting at 15 inches, but 17 seems to be the new common size. They are much more powerful so if you need to do some heavy work, or play games they are a better option. Then tend to be about three times as much money as a netbook and have much worse battery life, at best maybe three hours of use. Most often less than 2 hours.
So it’s all up to what you want to do with the device, If you want to browse the web in a lecture hall, and take some small notes, a netbook is fine. If you need to crunch huge excel documents, and play video games then a laptop is what you are looking for.
I recommend you look at both in a store, even you are not going to buy and try them out. See what you prefer.
Netbooks are designed for people that just want a portable machine for browsing the internet…Netbooks are an underpowered computer in a notebook form factor. Netbooks are designed for basic internet access only. They are built to surf the web and get e-mail, but if you wish to do any type of computing work, i.e., spreadsheets, gaming, databases, etc., you will need a full notebook….
A notebook is a portable computer,a netbook is an expensive toy.
A netbook is usually only for surfing the web.
