What Are Good Christmas Gifts For When You Are Really Tight On Money After A Brand New Baby?
December 12th, 2009 by admin | Filed under holidays.I am about 36 weeks and will have a new baby right around Christmas. My family is coming to our house and with me not working, money is tight. What gift can a get everyone that is personal and has a wow factor related to the new baby? I want to give everyone something nice, any ideas?

You could get everyone a collage frame starting with a picture of you and your belly- if you have the baby before christmas- start filling it up. If you have Michaels in your area, get a coupon from the paper (every week they put out a 40% off one item) and buy them one at a time from now until christmas.
Something I have done for the past few years is to take an old B&W photograph (usually have to temporarily steal it from someones old album) scan it, do a little colorizing with microsoft paint. add things to the background/foreground- use the acid free paper cut-outs or stickers- like flowers trees, grass or whatever fits. Look in your craft store with the scrapbooking supplies. Then I put it in a super-fancy frame- jeweled, ar antique-looking. Oval frames are particularly nice-looking.
One more idea- try this website. All handmade things- totally unique gifts.http://www.etsy.com/
take care and enjoy your last bits of freedom! congrats!
a pretty picture of him/her in cute christmas clothes in a lovely frame, with his toe/hand prints as well and a little individual note from the baby. costs nothing and will be really nice.
My sister made some beautiful Christmas decorations with patterns made from her baby’s hands and feet. She used the hands as wings and the feet as the dress of an angel and she cut out a printed picture of the baby and stuck it to the angel’s ‘body’ She found a lovely poem and wrote it on the angel. I still have it 9 years later.
OR you can make candle votives using baby food jars
OR you can do a ‘cookies in a jar’ gift http://familycrafts.about.com/cs/giftsin… <—there are many many ideas on this site of things you can do.
Take care.
Buy the frames at the dollar store- decorate them with baby themed scrapbook things and put a “IOU” in the place of the picture. Then if baby hasn’t arrived yet you can send the pics later and if you have the pics, you can swap them if you get a chance. You could do this now and put them away in a closet for later- one less thing to worry about at the end is great!
i would suggest drawing names if u have much family and everybody buys a gift for that person only and set a limit on how much everyone can spend on the gift…i have a large family and that’s what we have been doing for years…we buy for the kids now, bc most of us are all adults…keeps from wasting money to buy something someone would never use, ya know? also makes the holiday so much easier…and less stressful!
You can give personalized greeting cards that feature a photo of your new family and write something that highlights the unique relationship between yourself and the recipient.
There are loads of lovely ideas at this website: http://www.shutterfly.com/
pictures of the baby
Also, if they can’t understand you are short financially with a new born and Xmas is just a big commercial thing, too bad.
First xmas with baby and aside baby and hubby, no gift to anyone
i had my son just before xmas last year, i just gave photos for xmas presents - everyone was so excited about the baby that they LOVED the photos! even put bub in a cute santa outfithttp://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=41…
If you have a sewing machine look for patterns for baby clothes and stuffed animals. If you don’t, buy a baby blanket or binky. Those will make any newborn REALLY happy.
Take some pictures of the baby, make some personalized decroative frames - insert baby picture.
Maybe someting with baby’s picture like Christmas tree ornaments.
a framed family photo assuming baby is born by xmas
