What Could I Use For Christmas Wrapping Paper For My Hamster And Guinea Pigs?

I want my pets to have a blast at christmas too! I want to wrap them up some stuff, but i want them to have a fun time opening the presents too!
Is it safe to use ordinary wrapping paper? Newspaper? Plain paper?
Some ideas please! Or should i get, like, some fabric materials or something, silky stuff?
HELP!
