The Life and Play in Bible Versus Quran?

November 10th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in sports

Before dealing with the topic of the PLAY in Quran versus Bible versus sciences, it is mandatory to remember that the total words in the Bible are 788,280 while the total words in the Quran are 77,473. It follows that, the Bible is more than 10 times the Quran word-wise. The PLAY is mentioned 45 times in the Bible (KJV) and 19 times in the Quran, i.e. the Bible mentions the PLAY more than two times as does the Quran. In other words, the Bible has the potential of more than 10 times (word-wise) and more than twice (subject-wise) than the Quran to talk about the PLAY.

In this series, the topic of the Play is classified into six parts, herein is the fourth part, which is the Play in this Life and Afterlife.

The Life and Play in the Bible

And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp.

Isaiah 11:8

And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den.

The people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

Exodus 32:6

And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

Provide me now a man that can play well

1 Samuel 16:17

And Saul said unto his servants, provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me.

Brought this fellow to play

1 Samuel 21:15

Have I need of mad men, that ye have brought this fellow to play the mad man in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?

Let the young men now arise, and play before us

2 Samuel 2:14

And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men now arise, and play before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.

All the beasts of the field play.

Job 40:20

Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.

Wilt thou play with him as with a bird?

Job 41:5

Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?

Play skillfully with a loud noise.

Psalm 33:3

Sing unto him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise.

The damsels were playing with timbrels.

Psalm 68:25

The singers went before, the players on instruments followed after; among them were the damsels playing with timbrels.

As well the singers as the players on instruments shall be there

Psalm 87:7

As well the singers as the players on instruments shall be there: all my springs are in thee.

Thou hast made to play therein.

Psalm 104:26

There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.

Can play well on an instrument

Ezekiel 33:32

And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.

The streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof

Zechariah 8:5

And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof.

As it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.”

1 Corinthians 10:7

Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.”

Life and Play in the Quran:

Allah does not create the heavens and the earth in Play!

Surah: 21, Verse: 16

It was not in play that We created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them.

Surah: 44, Verse: 38

It was not in play that We (Allah) created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them.

Our life is nothing but a diversion and play; however, the Afterlife is the Eternal one!

Surah: 29, Verse: 64

The life of this world is nothing but a diversion and play. Indeed, the everlasting residence is the eternal life, if they but knew.

We are playing in this life; however, the Afterlife is the better Eternal home for those who understand!

Surah: 6, Verse: 32

The life of this world is but playing and an amusement. Surely, the everlasting home is better for the cautious. Will you not understand?

Surah: 47, Verse: 36

The life of this world is but play and an amusement. if you believe and are cautious, He will give you your wage, and will not ask for your possessions.

Surah: 57, Verse: 20

Know that the life of this world is but play and an amusement, and adornment, and a cause for boasting among you, a rivalry for greater riches and children. it is like rain whose vegetation pleases the unbelievers, but then it withers and turns yellow, becoming broken stubble. in the everlasting life is a terrible punishment, forgiveness, and great pleasure from Allah. the life of this world is nothing except the joy of delusion.

Another translation of the verse (57:20):

Know ye (all), that the life of this world is but play and amusement, pomp and mutual boasting and multiplying, (in rivalry) among yourselves, riches and children. here is a similitude: how rain and the growth which it brings forth, delight (the hearts of) the tillers; soon it withers; thou wilt see it grow yellow; then it becomes dry and crumbles away. but in the hereafter is a penalty severe (for the devotees of wrong). and forgiveness from Allah and (his) good pleasure (for the devotees of Allah). and what is the life of this world, but goods and chattels of deception?

Play as if Your Life Depends on It: Functional Exercise and Living for Homo sapiens

Play as if Your Life Depends on It is an innovative and comprehensive look at human physical fitness and health. The orientation is primal, practical, and playful. It’s primal because it connects us with our hunting and gathering origins. Practical, because it teaches us how to integrate movement into our daily lives and train for the way we actually live. Playful, in the way that it creates new games and looks for humor at every opportunity. This book offers a perspective that is both wide-ranging and powerful. Spiritual Divorce: Divorce as a Catalyst for an Extraordinary Life

Review
Whether you are the one who leaves or the one who is left, divorce is a painful, wrenching experience, explains author Debbie Ford. Since Ford is comfortable dwelling in the shadow side of life, it’s not surprising that she believes that the excruciating pain of divorce can lead to enormous spiritual growth. “Emotional turmoil can be a powerful catalyst to reconnect us with our divine nature,” she writes. “It propels us into a journey of self discovery and urges us to learn how to love and accept our entire being.” Herein lies the promise of a “spiritual divorce.” Because Ford is a highly effective workshop leader, she has a knack for breaking down spiritual matters into manageable bites. She is also willi [Read More...]
