Was simple to install and worked great. I had no problems at all with it. I have used H&R Block for the past 5 Years and have had great results with them. It was cheaper than TurboTax, and for me it was easier to use and faster.
Many church ministers have filed form 4361 to be exempt from paying Self Employment Tax (SEP). Turbo Tax, and in prior years the Block Tax Cut program has picked up on the exemption and therefore does not calculate your SEP and put it on your 1040. This new program, however, asks if you have filed 4361. You check YES, and it tells you that you are exempt and will not calculate your SEP….but then it goes on to calculate it and places it on the 1040 anyway. If you try to override and remove the SEP, then you are not allowed to e-file. I called Block and explained it to them, they told me to override and mail it in. I could have done that on just a paper form from the post office.
I attempted to install this program (I’m a PC user, unlike the above reviewer, who said it did not work on Mac either), and I received an error that it was not compatible with my resolution settings. Since I haven’t paid for the program yet (H&R block sends them out free, and you pay after you install; I’ve used them for two years now), I am simply not going to bother messing with my settings to try to get it to work (and possibly messing something up in the process). I think this one’s a dud this year. I’ll probably be going with TurboTax, which I haven’t used in two years, this year.
