How Do I Find My Files On My Mp3 Player When They Have Mysteriously Disappeared?

November 23rd, 2009 by admin | Filed under technie stuff.

I was copying and deleting some files on my mp3/mp4 player and all my files (songs and videos) have all disappeared, but i know they still exist on my mp3 player because my memory usage hasn’t changed. Does anyone know how to fix this? Would defragmenting the player on my computer work?

This unfortunatly happens, it h appened to me also. Not only were the songs not listed, but the players memory was full as if the songs WERE STILL THERE. The solution? format it and replace the mp3s back onto it. Think of the ‘memory’ as a ‘harddrive’ and like anything that stores data and has data erased and restored with different files, it WILL fragment over time. The fix is to format it fresh, and you wont have to find yourself doing this often, just once a year perhaps depending on the amount of placing of files onto and erasing off of your player on a regular basis. And its nothing to do with defragmenting your actual COMPUTER , the problem lies within thr mp3 players ‘hardrive’ or ‘memory’ which are generally interchangable terms.
