How Can You Play A Video Game Online Against Someone With A Different Console?

I have Modern Warfare 2 for ps3 and i want to play against my friend who also has modern warfare 2 but for xbox 360. How can i play online against him? Is it possible?

    I believe they are on two different servers, and being on two different platforms, were programmed differently. You can’t play against someone from a different console.

    Sorry, but it can’t be done. The games use different programming languages for different consoles.

    It just isn’t possible, you can’t play somebody online who has a different type of system.
