Best to learn things slowly and ACURRATLY then build up speed.
Easier to correct mistakes with precise movements then get speed, then to try to correct them later!
A scale is essencially the seven basic tones of a key set in alphabetical order with the keynote stated at the beginning and end. 1. Determine the key signature for the key. 2. Begin with the keynote which in the key of A minor would be A. 3. From there, it is just like reciting the alphabet with respect to the key signature. ex.- The A Major scale would be A,B,C#,D,E,F#,G#,A. Ab would be Ab,Bb,C,Db,Eb,F,G,Ab. C would be C,D,E,F,G,A,B,C. Learn the scale then gradually build your speed.
Practice them with a metronome and as you get them down, double up, then triple & so forth. Go up and down.
And before you know it YOU TOO will have become a “SPEED DEMON”
Here’s a easy excerise.
Play on the Low Estring 1st fret four beats then play second fret four beats same string. Then next string(a string) 1st fret four beats then 2nd fret four beats…and so on. Then you can do 1st fret to 3rd fret and 1st fret to 4th fret.
keep playing that with a pick or your fingers until you can play really fast that way. Then try 3 beats then 2 beats and then 1 beat. If you get really go at it you can play a note everytime to go down or up with the pick. *beat must be steady
