Can I Remove Optical Drive From A Desktop And Put It On My Netbook?

February 26th, 2010 by admin | Filed under technie stuff.

Okay so I have a old desktop that I don’t use and I have a netbook that doesn’t have a optical drive. Since I don’t use it is it possible to remove the disc drive from the desktop and hook it up to my netbook? Im not so sure because i opened the desktop and the drive is connected with a bunch of wires unlike external disc drives that are just USB. So could it be done?

Everything is numbered these days…so let’s take a look at the top ten lists that I like.

No, it cannot be done. Desktop parts and laptop parts are not interchangeable.

If the drive is IDE or SATA, you can buy a conversion kit to USB or FireWire.
