Backing Up My Collection of DVDs
March 15th, 2010 by admin | Filed under Uncategorized.This weekend I was looking for a way to backup my DVD collection. I have tons of DVDS and, if I lost them, I would not be happy. In my research, I found this article called copy DVD to hard drive which explains the exact process I can use to copy all of my DVDs to my hard drive.
Initially, I had read an article on the same site about how to copy a DVD which explains how I could copy a DVD to another DVD. But if I do this, then I am left in the same situation with a ton of DVDs that I might lose, or get scratched or something like that. These backup DVDs, really, would be in the same spot as my other DVDs.
Thus, this solution of backing up DVDs to my hard drive really came in handy.
I like it particularly for two reasons. One, I don’t have to have any more DVDs. As Toom wrote in On Copying DVDs to Your Computer, this is a great advantage. Why do we need to have all of these DVD’s laying around when we have hard drives that have virtually unlimited capacity today?
The second reason is the easy with which I can now watch a movie. If all of your movies are on your hard drive, then you will no longer be searching for the DVD. Now, I just have a movies directory and everything is right there. And, if you connect TV to pc, you can watch all of these DVDs on your new LCD TV.
This is a great way to do it.
Not only do you end up with a backup of your DVDs but you also end up with a much more convenient way to watch movies! So, my recommendations is to go for it!
